What is Alumni Weekend?
Every June as spring hits the campus, the academic year ends, and students
get ready to graduate, the University invites you back for an extended
weekend of fun—Chicago style. Tours and exhibitions reorient you
to campus. Faculty-led sessions let you relive the vitality of a Chicago
classroom. Alumni achievements are honored. And throughout the weekend
a variety of social events give you the chance to rejoin what Hutchins
called the “Great Conversation” with faculty,
students, and one another.
Who Attends?
All alumni are invited back to campus for Alumni Weekend. Special reunions will
be celebrated by University professional schools, the Laboratory Schools and, in the College, by the Class of 2007, classes ending in “3” or “8,” and the Alumni Emeriti (Class of 1957 and prior).

Not Celebrating a Reunion; is Alumni Weekend Really for Me?
Yes! No matter which school or division you attended or when you were a student,
all alumni of the University are invited to Alumni Weekend. Even if you never
graduated—anyone who has earned credits toward a degree is eligible
for alumna/us status.
Do I Need to Register in Advance?
You are strongly encouraged to register in advance. College Class dinners
will have a $10 surcharge for those who register at the door and other
events may sell out.
REGISTRATION DEADLINES
Please do not mail registrations after Saturday, May 24, as they may not arrive in time. You can fax registration forms with your credit card payment or register online until Thursday, May 29.
How Much Does it Cost?
There is no overall fee to attend the Weekend, many events are free, and
those that have a charge are subsidized by the University. See the event
schedule for full details. Discounts are available for travel
and hotels.
What Should I Wear?
First, consult the forecast—as you know, Chicago’s spring weather
is unpredictable. During the day, events and clothing are casual. For the
evening parties, wear whatever makes you feel festive (but don’t risk
missing anything just to go change). You don’t need to pack hiking
boots—a fleet of trolleys will take you from place to place, both on
campus and to and from designated hotels.
What if I Have Special Needs?
Please let us know about any special needs (such as dietary requirements
or handicap accessibility issues) when you register. Or, call 800/955-0065
and explain your needs. We will do our best to accommodate you as long
as we know your circumstance at least one week prior to Alumni Weekend.
Can I Bring My Family and Friends?
Yes! Family friendly events are marked with a

Can I Cancel My Registration?
Refunds will be honored until Thursday, May 29 with a written request. E-mail alumniweekend@uchicago.edu or
fax the Alumni House at 773/702-2166. Refunds will be made minus a $10 processing
fee.
