Established in 2008, the Office of Sustainability works to diminish the University’s impact on the environment, raise visibility of sustainability issues on campus, and advance intellectual debate and analysis on critical environmental issues. The office’s goal is to create an effective sustainability program that is a model for institutions in Chicago and around the world. For additional information on how UChicago keeps green, please visit sustainability.uchicago.edu.
Here are some ways to participate in sustainability efforts during Alumni Weekend:
- Bring your own refillable water bottle. There are several water bottle filling stations around campus.
- Carpool, use the shuttles, or take advantage of bike sharing. Shuttle service is available on campus and to and from hotels in the Loop, and loaner bicycles are available through the University’s bike-sharing program.
- Recycle. Help reduce waste on campus by using recycling bins for paper, plastics, metal, and glass (no sorting needed).
All guests are responsible for organizing their own childcare needs. The University assumes no liability or responsibility for outside childcare services.
