Class of 1962 Abby Dorfman Tannenbaum Scholarship Fund
Join your classmates in growing your Class of 1962 Abby Dorfman Tannenbaum Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support for talented students with the greatest financial need.
Gifts to the Class of 1962 Abby Dorfman Tannenbaum Scholarship Fund support Lab’s commitment to providing equitable access to a creative, rigorous, and transformative education to a diverse group of bright, hardworking students.
Strengthening Lab’s ability to award financial aid has never been more critical—for students and families—than it is today, and your support has never been more vital. As we celebrate the 125th anniversary of Lab, help us support the Lab alumni of tomorrow.
Several of us (most recently Ed Bolton, Irving Wladawsky-Berger, Lee Erman, Bob Katz, John Ford, Lee David Alinsky, and Joan Brown Bivin, with lots of help from Heather Tamburo in the Alumni Office) have been meeting (via Zoom) about our 60th reunion and, more generally, our interactions. Here’s what we’re planning:
Reunion: We are encouraging classmates who would like to get together for an in-person reunion to attend Lab's Alumni Weekend May 21 & 22.
Register here: https://www.ucls.uchicago.edu/alumni/alumni-weekend
We’ll hold a virtual (Zoom) reunion on Thursday, May 26, with the exact time and duration yet to be determined. Please pencil that into your calendar.
For that reunion, we’ll have some structured aspects, perhaps with one or two short invited presentations from some classmates. Please let us know if you have any ideas, including if you might want to present. We’ll also gather updates to the memory book from 2012, and include an in-memoriam presentation.
Monthly Get Togethers: We will also hold informal monthly zoom Happy Hour get togethers, where any of us can drop-in and chat (BYOB). The first one will be Wednesday, Feb. 2, 5pm Chicago time. (See below for the link.) These can last as long as anyone wants to stay connected. We have yet to schedule these for March and April. If you have preferences, let us know.
Local Gatherings: We encourage any folks in particular geographic areas with several of us (S.F.Bay area, NYC, etc) to organize local in-person gatherings. This could be for sharing the May reunion, for the monthly get togethers, or ad hoc for yourselves.
Using Zoom: Any of us who need help with using Zoom, please contact us and we’ll be glad to help. Note that you can join in via any telephone if you don’t have or want to use a computer, smart phone, or tablet.
To Reply: Please reply back with any questions, suggestions, and thoughts about any of this (including plans for local gatherings) or anything else about our class to:
